Kenneth Boulder

El economista angloamericano Kenneth Boulder, nos dejó una reflexión que, más que en el mundo científico, parece encajar en el de las diferencias entre los modos de ejercer el oficio sacerdotal.

Economists and physicians, much like priests in Ancient Egypt, have the "sacred" mission of deceiving everyone, except themselves.

They are therefore "lucid liars" and can serve as reasonably capable guides.

The rest of the scientists, that is, physicists, mathematicians, biologists, "Argentine economists", etc., like the priests of the Temple with whom Jesus fought, have the "sacred or not sacred, it makes no difference" mission of deceiving everyone, including themselves.

They are therefore "blind liars" and "you would have to be crazy" to hire them as guides.

From a literary point of view, it would be appropriate to accompany the "you would have to be crazy" with another option, but that would not be honest.

And honesty must prevail over literary brilliance.

How did the fight between Jesus and the Hebrew priests end? Well, they tricked the idiotic Pilate into crucifying the Nazarene.

Very important: they died absolutely convinced that they had done the right thing.
